Steps To Become a RON in Kansas
Step 1: Sign-up & Create Your Account With NotaryHub.com by Everything Legal
Obtain your Digital Certificate, Electronic Signature, and Digital Stamp from our partners at SSL through our all-in-one platform — see [Get Your Digital Certificate](X509 Certificate Setup Guide)
Everything Legal also provides you with the required Electronic Journal for documenting your remote online notarizations.

Step 2: Take the State's Training Course and Pass an Exam
Before performing Remote Online Notarizations, you must complete the state-provided training and exam.
Training and testing are free and provided by the Kansas Secretary of State’s office.
You can complete the course at your convenience. After passing the test, a certificate will be generated, which must be submitted with your RON registration to the Secretary of State.
Step 3: Notify the Secretary of State That You Intend to Perform RONs
Prior to performing RONs, Kansas notaries must notify the Secretary of State of the technology platform they will use — for example, NotaryHub.com.
- Submit Form NC (Notary Change) online via the Secretary of State’s submission portal
- Include a copy of your training completion certificate
- Pay the $20 registration fee
- Your RON registration will run concurrently with your existing four-year notary commission
For more information, review the Kansas Notary Handbook.
If you have questions about your appointment, renewal, or RON endorsement status, contact the Secretary of State at notary@ks.gov or 785-296-4564.
It can take four to six weeks to become a remote notary in Kansas, most of which involves obtaining your traditional commission.
